The Patterns of Nature
I find that it is often the case that unlikely subjects offer the opportunity to make thoughtful images. I am a great admirer of the early 20th century American photographer, Edward Weston, and I embrace his observation that: “Anything that excites me for any reason, I will photograph; not searching for unusual subject matter, but making the commonplace unusual.”
In this collection of images, I have sought to offer a tactile sense of my subjects. Through icy grass to the warm pebbles on Mellon Udrigle beach I hope you will agree that it is not the subjects themselves that are remarkable in any way but instead it is the line, the form and the movement that captures our interest and stimulates our thinking about these quietly ordinary moments.
